About me

I’m TheBaltazarTV from YouTube. My channel started on February 15, 2013. My first love is DotA, which I started playing in 2008. I first discovered DotA when my cousin came to my house and saw me playing classic Warcraft. He asked, ‘Why don’t you try DotA?’ where you control just one unit. He said it was much simpler. I tried it, and I liked it a lot. I couldn’t stop playing.

I would run from school to the internet café to play all day because I didn’t have internet at home. That was my only chance. I didn’t have much money, so after my time was up, I would stay and watch other people play. When I got home, I would play against bots to practice and improve my skills so that when I went back to the café, I could dominate online. We also had LAN games, which I loved to play. There were a lot of good players, and I learned tips and tricks from some of them.

My YouTube career started one day at 4 a.m. There was a Harlem Shake trend on YouTube where everyone was making funny clips of people dancing, so I came up with the idea to make DotA heroes dance. I uploaded the video to YouTube and started sharing it with friends. Everyone started laughing and sharing it, so it went viral super fast. I started getting subscribers really quickly. I went to sleep, and when I woke up, the video already had a few thousand views. It was insane for me at that time. After that first video, I just kept uploading, and here I am, 11 years later.

A big milestone for me was reaching 100,000 subscribers in 2018. That’s a huge number. I never believed it was possible for a DotA 1 player to have that many followers since DotA 2 came out and took all the popularity and players from us. I said that once I reached 100k subs, I would start streaming with a facecam. It took another 4 years, but in 2022, I reached 200,000 subscribers, which is crazy. A lot of people thank me for keeping DotA alive, and I tell them it’s my pleasure. When you do something you love and enjoy, life feels complete.

My ongoing goal is to keep building and expanding our strong, positive community, a place where we can all have fun, chat, share, and remember the old days when we were young, playing DotA with our friends.
